Mission Statement

Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment that stimulates a child's natural curiosity to explore the world around them. By encouraging children to try new things and be confident in their choices, we will provide a productive, safe space for each child to grow and learn at their own pace. Exploring and experimenting with art, language, math, and the sciences through outdoor play, gardening, one-on-one lessons, as well as peer and group learning are standard practice.

Classroom Philosophy

Our classroom will include traditional Montessori equipment. Freshly prepared, healthy snacks and lunches will be served.

Our language curriculum is phonetically based, using a variety of engaging choices for learning the sounds, as well as the name of the letters.  Math is taught by introducing concepts first in a concrete way, then moving on to the abstract.  We will learn about music by listening to different composers, and explore art by learning about different artists and their styles of art.

We will encourage your child to explore their interests while preparing them for life through cooperative learning that involves waiting their turn, asking for lessons in an area that interests them, trying new foods, and exploring nature.  We will strive to help children develop at their own pace, encourage problem solving, strong social skills, and gross motor development through outdoor play.  We want to garden.  We want your child involved in all areas of learning.

The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own desire to learn.

Ramona taylor

Head teacher and Program Director of Songbirds Nest, LLC

While we were raising our four children, I discovered the Montessori method of education. I was captivated and chose to pursue my certification. I have held my early childhood certification through National Center for Montessori Education, now American Montessori Society, for 20 years.

I hold a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Arkansas. I am currently pursuing Primary Certification through NAMC, North American Montessori Center.  As an artist, I bring my unique perspective of life into everything I do and live my life as art. I am excited about exploring the connection between nature, play, and Montessori education.
